In the past few months, God has been gracious to raise up and provide new leaders for CBMW. We have a new President (Owen Strachan, former Executive Director), a new Executive Director (Grant Castleberry, former editor and Conference Coordinator), and a new Board Chairman (Erik Thoennes, a board member for several years).

It’s my pleasure to announce even more exciting news on the CBMW leadership front: Thomas White and Jason Duesing have been appointed to our Board of Directors. Allow me to introduce them to you.

white color 2Dr. Thomas White is President and Professor of Theology at Cedarville University. He holds an A.A. and a B.A. in English from Anderson University, and an M.Div. in Pastoral Ministry and Languages and a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Dr. White has an accomplished career in leadership as a former karate school owner and instructor for seven years, as a student leader in his seminary days at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and as Vice President for Student Services and Communications at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary from 2006-2013. He has contributed chapters and articles to many books and publications, most notably co-authoring Franchising McChurch: Feeding Americas Obsession with Easy Christianity with John Mark Yeats, and co-editing Upon this Rock, Restoring Integrity in Baptist Churches, and First Freedom: The Baptist Perspective on Religious Liberty with Malcolm Yarnell and Jason Duesing.

Dr. White is married to Joy and they have one adopted daughter, Rachel, and one son, Samuel David. They also have two dogs that they treat like children—Princess, a German Shepherd and Shadow, a black Labrador Retriever.

When asked about CBMW’s impact on his life and the culture around us, Dr. White said,

As a seminary student struggling with understanding biblical manhood and womanhood, I discovered CBMW and read the book Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. These resources were formative for my understanding of what Scripture says about gender roles. My wife has also studied and written on the subject of gender roles so CBMW and the resources it provides has influenced our thinking and our marriage. In a culture constantly pushing for gender neutrality, we must understand and articulately defend what the Bible says about biblical manhood and womanhood.

He holds a B.A. in Speech Communication from Texas A&M University, an M.Div. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Historical Theology and Baptist Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

A respected theologian, historian, and churchman, Dr. Duesing serves on the Southern Baptist Historical Library & Archives Advisory Board, the Committee on Nominations of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention, a research fellow for Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, and has been a member of the Evangelical Theological Society for over a decade. He is the author of Seven Summits in Church History (forthcoming, Rainer Publishing) and Adoniram Judson: A Bicentennial Appreciation of the Pioneer American Missionary and co-editor, with Malcolm Yarnell and Thomas White, of Upon this Rock, Restoring Integrity in Baptist Churches, and First Freedom: The Baptist Perspective on Religious Liberty.

Dr. Duesing is married to Kalee and they have four children: Gracyn, Ford, Lindsey, and George. He and his family attend Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas.

Upon his appointment, Dr. Duesing noted the importance of CBMW’s ministry in today’s culture:

“CBMW is a crucial ministry today foundationally because having a resource ministry available to answer questions related (1) to the ever-changing world surrounding manhood and womanhood in the culture and (2) to the basic biblical principles for God-designed manhood and womanhood gives great hope to a rising generation seeking to find their way in a day of great chaos and confusion. In short, CBMW can serve as a “city of refuge” and a “strong tower of truth” for those wandering and for those wondering among the next generation.”

Please join us in welcoming them!
